My path started with regional air quality and weather and has moved toward global climate modeling, where I’m interested in how the makeup of the atmosphere and the behavior of clouds together decide how much the planet warms.
Research
Methane Mitigation
Methane is the second most important greenhouse gas after CO2. I use an Earth system model and machine learning to study its atmospheric lifetime, the lifetime feedbacks, and what they mean for the climate benefits of mitigation.
Atmospheric Chemistry Modeling
Ground-level ozone is a harmful secondary air pollutant. It formsunder sunlight and builds up over urban areas in hot weather. I use the WRF-Chem model to simulate how ozone are produced and transported through the troposphere.
Cloud Feedback
Cloud feedback and aerosol-cloud interactions are major sources of uncertainty in Earth system models. I use CESM2 and E3SMv2 to analyze the correlation between the two and the physical processes that link them.
